sing you to me

the distance between us is
an imaginary line
the space is secondary
to the feeling

if a storm should be approaching
we will batten down the hatches
and prepare to face the weather
and it's seasons

but never will anything come between us
i can let you go
and still hold you inside

i can sing you to me
whenever i'm alone
i can sing you to me
when i need you
i can sing you to me
when there's no one else to turn to
i will sing you
to me

the road ahead is steep
and i have no head for walking
on a straight path
it's the bends that mark my way
i get sidetracked by the light
by the budding flowers blooming
by the life that grows around me every day

but never will i lose the meaning
that lights my weary way
and never will i lose the feeling
that there lies an open promise
in each new day

i can sing you to me
whenever i'm alone
i can sing you to me
when i need you
i can sing you to me
when there's no one else to turn to
i will sing you
to me

i will sing you in
i will sing you over
heaven cloud and field
i will sing you to the sky

i will sing you after
the whole things over
i will sing you into
the night

the distance between us is
an imaginary line
the space is secondary
to the feeling

if a storm should be approaching
we will batten down the hatches
and prepare to face the weather
and it's seasons

i can sing you to me
whenever i'm alone
i can sing you to me
when i need you
i can sing you to me
when there's no one else to turn to
i will sing you
to me
